July Journies

Image
July has been such an inspiring and fun-filled month at Arohanui! I’ve had a wonderful time getting creative, connecting with our community, and enjoying some quiet moments in nature. My creative side was fully on display this month through a couple of special hands-on art projects. First, I had a blast making paper Spring bulb flowers by using pages from an old book for the petals and building the stalks with skewers and masking tape. It was so rewarding to see them come to life. Later, I joined in on a group underwater canvas project where I crafted a crayfish out of recycled egg cartons, surrounding it with real shells, smooth rocks, and green woolly seaweed for texture. Giving back to the community continues to be one of my favorite highlights. I attended the Riding for the Disabled volunteer induction out at Welcome Bay, where we took a lovely walkthrough of the gardens we'll be helping tend to. I also got to head over to Waipuna Hospice to brighten someone’s day by delivering...

I have made many great memories at Arohanui this month and have really enjoyed taking part in a variety of fun and meaningful activities. I have stayed fit, active, and engaged through my sports sessions, which I always look forward to. One of the highlights was visiting Fantail Reserve to play a game of pétanque. It was a fun experience spending time outdoors with my friends while practising our aiming and teamwork skills. Basketball continues to be a great passion of mine, and I have enjoyed spending time improving my dribbling, shooting, and ball-handling skills. I also had a lot of fun playing tag with my friends. It was exciting running around together, chasing each other, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way. Another memorable experience this month was going tenpin bowling for one of my outings. I was proud to score a few spares and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the game. It was a great opportunity to socialise, have fun, and challenge myself. During my art sessi...

Month of May

My time at Arohanui this month has been busy, active, and full of enjoyable experiences. I have really loved getting out into the community, trying new things, and spending time with my friends while building my confidence and skills.  One of the highlights for me was going on Community Inclusion to the Strand for the Tauranga Art Walk. It was such a fun and interesting adventure, with so many colourful murals and creative artworks to admire along the way. Everywhere we looked there was something beautiful and unique, which made the day exciting and inspiring. I really enjoyed exploring the area, taking in the atmosphere, and sharing the experience with my friends. During one of my outings this month, I visited the Historic Village, where I enjoyed helping out by sweeping and clearing small rocks from the walkway. It felt rewarding to contribute and take part in keeping the area clean and tidy. After finishing, I went for a relaxing walk along the boardwalk with my friends, ...
